Through this work, I help build and refine a descriptive research database by coding and organizing articles in the field, identifying trends in the literature, and helping translate findings into accessible research briefs. My research is especially interested in how CRPs address recovery support, stigma, student experiences, and program development, while also bringing more awareness to the role these programs play in higher education. | How do you hope to impact your students as a UROP Leader? | I hope to create a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, learning, and growing through the research process. My priority is to support them in ways that build confidence in their abilities and help them navigate a time that can feel uncertain. I also hope to guide them toward opportunities, help them see the value in their contributions, and encourage them to pursue research areas they are genuinely passionate about. I want students to see that research can take them beyond their field and help them find new interests and passions, as it has for me through my research on collegiate recovery programs. |

I used ImageJ software to measure oocyte (female egg) sizes, Microsoft Excel to store oocyte sizes and environmental data, and RStudio to run statistical analyses and create graphs. | How has UROP impacted your time at FSU? | The Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP) has connected me with amazing postdoctoral and undergraduate researchers. These invaluable relationships are something I will treasure even beyond the program. Additionally, UROP has provided me with many opportunities to improve my public speaking skills and grow as a person. For example, the CRE fully funded my attendance at the Florida Undergraduate Research Conference at the University of North Florida, where I was able to present my research. Despite being terrified of public speaking, I believe UROP has helped me grow more confident as a person and ultimately supported my step towards a successful and fun time at FSU. | I love playing competitive games such as UNO, Wheel of Fortune, and Word Hunt with my friends. I also enjoy having study nights with them (although they usually end up being hours-long talking sessions). I think it's also important to mention that I love anything sweet and baking desserts only if they are impossible to mess up :) |

We expose materials such as niobium and tantalum to hydrogen in controlled furnace environments to study how elevated temperatures influence oxide stability, surface chemistry, and hydrogen uptake. The goal is to understand how hydrogen reduces protective oxide layers and alters material behavior, which is critical for applications in hydrogen turbine systems. | I have also studied hydrogen engine systems, including work conducted at Tallahassee State College. This involved exploring how hydrogen is used as a fuel, as well as the design and operation of hydrogen turbines and engines, with a focus on efficiency, materials compatibility, and high-temperature performance in hydrogen-based energy systems. I have also studied crystal structures in materials, focusing on how atomic arrangement and bonding influence properties such as strength, diffusion, and chemical reactivity, especially under extreme conditions like high temperature and hydrogen exposure. | How do you hope to impact your students as a UROP Leader? | I hope to impact my UROP students by inspiring them to pursue their goals with confidence and curiosity. I want to encourage them to take initiative, explore research opportunities, and push beyond their comfort zones. By sharing my experiences and supporting their growth, I aim to motivate them to go out and achieve what they truly want. | I am a member of the fencing club and car club at FSU, where I enjoy both the competitive and community aspects of each. I also participate in autocross events with my car, which allows me to develop my driving skills and engage with the motorsports community. Much of the long-term damage from spinal cord injury stems from secondary processes such as inflammation and vascular dysfunction. Using both in vitro and in vivo models, I study how these cells contribute to injury progression and tissue remodeling. My work consists of assisting with surgical procedures and post-operative care of mice, as well as using techniques like immunocytochemistry and confocal imaging to analyze markers of endothelial function and activation. | How do you hope to impact your students as a UROP Leader? | I want to help students find research opportunities and expand their academic horizons, especially early in their college experience. Starting out can feel overwhelming, so I hope to make the process more approachable by sharing what I’ve learned and helping them navigate where to start. Research in any discipline is an incredibly fulfilling and enriching experience. Whether students intend to pursue a career in research or only do so for the term, the fundamental skills of investigation will serve them regardless of their career aspirations. I hope to be a part of their investigation and help them grow skills that will be useful for their academic careers. |

I remember feeling unsure and not always knowing what I was doing, so I want to create a space where they feel comfortable asking questions and not afraid to be wrong. I want to help them see that research is something they can actually be good at, even if it feels confusing at first. I also want to help them connect research to their own goals, especially if they are interested in healthcare, so it feels more real and meaningful. | I enjoy going to the gym, reading, and traveling. |

Post-menopausal women were physically evaluated, fat biopsied, and put through a micro dialysis regimen before being allocated to a 12 week endurance or resistance training regimen. After the 12 weeks were complete, the women would be evaluated in the same measures again. We then tested the cells taken from fat deposits for adipose tissue, as well as the interstitial fluid taken from cells during micro dialysis to determine if fat metabolism was improved better when resistance or endurance training. | How do you hope to impact your students as a UROP Leader? | I hope to impact my students as a UROP leader through supporting their each and every research need. I hope to pass along the wisdom and skills I learned through UROP and inspire my students to take full advantage of this incredible opportunity. I want them to feel as though they have guidance through each step of the UROP process and provide them with as many resources as I can to build them into sophisticated researchers. My students should be fully confident in their researching abilities and ready for their next step at FSU by the time they are presenting in the symposium. | I am an active member of the Student Nursing Association as well as the FSU Club Equestrian Team! |

My research was a qualitative causal analysis that focused on activists at this time, and the negative effects their intended help brought upon the Seminoles. | In high school, I also conducted research through the AP Research Capstone classes. In this project, I studied the gender differences of the effects of the "power pose", a confidence-enhancing technique studied by Amy Cuddy and described in her TEDTalk. | How do you hope to impact your students as a UROP Leader? | As a UROP leader, I hope to impact my students by making the introduction to college-level research as seamless and exciting as possible. I want to be a resource that students can reach out to for support on their research, as well as be able to educate them in a way that both makes them more knowledgeable and also more enthusiastic about research. I want to do my best to make my classroom a positive and uplifting space for students and help them grow into more confident and prepared individuals. | I love thrifting, any live music events, reading, day trips out of Tallahassee, and the beach! At FSU, I am also a part of the sorority Chi Omega. |
