We conducted this model based meta-analysis to consolidate relevant scientific literature to further strengthen the idea that three predictors of dyslexia- phonological processing impairment, poor response to instruction, and family history of dyslexia are reliable modes of early prediction and diagnosis. | How has UROP impacted your time at FSU? | As a freshman, I knew I wanted to get involved in research, but was not sure how. The thought of cold emailing professors was daunting, and I had no idea what I should include in an email or how to find labs that were taking students. After joining UROP, I learned so much about the research world and found Dr. Wagner's lab, which I love being a part of, and plan to stay with for the rest of my time at FSU! UROP has taught me other skills as well- how to communicate in a professional manner, public speaking, literature reviews, and more! I really enjoy learning so much about a topic outside of the classroom and hope to get involved in more research over the coming years. | Outside of school I am also a medical assistant in primary care and volunteer with Americorps, which is part of the Alzheimer's project. |

My individual UROP project explored the comorbidity of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder and Major Depressive Disorder and how it may be explained by a cognitive theory using Maladaptive Beliefs as a mediating role. | How has UROP impacted your time at FSU? | UROP has made me feel so connected to FSU and academia in a way that no other activity has. My mentor and lab team, as well as the other UROP friends I made along the way, have taught me how what it means to be a driven, focused, and compassionate researcher and peer. I have learned invaluable career, social, and work ethic skills through this process, and am so grateful that it got me started in research. |

In my freshman year, I conducted research through the UROP program. More specifically, the The Use of Touch in Satir's Human Validation Process Model. | How do you hope to impact your students as a UROP Leader? | What I hope to do is to make students comfortable enough to be able to ask me questions about topics outside of just the class's content. Knowing that they view me as someone they can open up to is reward enough. | In my spare time, I like to draw and make keyboards. |

The project I am working on now involves investigating the relationship between improvisation in student musicians and cognitive flexibility. Working with faculty in the College of Music, I am designing a study to quantify both the cognitive flexibility and improvisational experience in pianists. Then, I plan to complete a statistical analysis to uncover a possible relationship between the two. | Through UROP, I was able to participate in a research project through the Communications Department. In this study, we measured the gender and racial representation present in cleaning product advertisements. I have also worked with the Dewan Lab as a research assistant. This involved husbandry and general lab support tasks. | How do you hope to impact your students as a UROP Leader? | I hope to inspire students to pursue research that they might not immediately be drawn to. UROP provides students with access to a multitude of different research projects and topics, and every one of them inspire incredible growth. While many students come into UROP with an idea of what they want to study, the sheer number of projects allows for hidden interests to be uncovered. | Being a student in the College of Music, I am very active in the vocal performance scene at FSU. I have performed in FSU choirs and one of the operas . On top of school work and extracurriculars, I spend approximately 2 hours a day practicing my instrument, and am hoping to have a brief career in performance. My role within the project is to help contribute to building a comprehensive database of known cases in the U.S. over the past several decades. Once completed, this database will serve as an essential resource for tracking these incidents and identifying patterns that could help prevent future occurrences. | How do you hope to impact your students as a UROP Leader? | I hope to create a supportive and engaging environment where students feel confident exploring research and asking questions. As a UROP leader, I want to help students build critical thinking skills, gain hands on experience, and see themselves as capable researchers. Ultimately, I hope to inspire curiosity and make research feel accessible and meaningful. |
Outside of UROP, I currently serve as a Student Senator representing the College of Arts and Sciences in the Student Government Association, where I advocate for student needs and work to improve campus initiatives. I am also actively involved in Best Buddies, where I promote inclusion and build meaningful relationships with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This past year, I served as the Greek Delegate for my sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta, and I will be stepping into the role of Fundraising Director next year. In my free time, I enjoy reading, walking my dog, and spending time with my friends and family. |

Our work sought to offer a critical advancement in understanding how impressions of groups form as a result of shared (or unshared) group member characteristics. | How do you hope to impact your students as a UROP Leader? | I hope to impact my students as a UROP leader by becoming a supportive figure for them throughout their UROP experience. I hope to build close bonds with my students and help them feel prepared while ensuring they understand everything they need. My main goal is to help students feel confident, supported, and capable in their research journey. | I enjoy running, reading, playing pickleball and going to the beach! |

We focus on the neuromuscular junctions and the allignment of the receptors with their motor nuerons through immunofluorescence staining. | How has UROP impacted your time at FSU? | Coming into FSU, I knew that my goal was to go into the medical field, where I would like to conduct drug trials. In order to gain that experience before going to medical school, I needed to participate in undergraduate research. My freshman year, I had a hard time getting in touch with professors, but UROP provided me with that opportunity my sophomore year. Now, I get to work on research that is personal to me, and continue in my lab that I started with in UROP. | Outside of academics, I enjoy reading, cooking, baking, playing games with my friends, and sports. |

It enabled me to develop the skills and confidence necessary to conduct independent scientific work and contribute to ongoing projects. This foundation has directly supported my growth as a researcher and student. | In my free time, I enjoy sewing and altering clothes. I have also been working on making a carpet for the last five years, which has been a rewarding way to develop patience and attention to detail. |

I was so fortunate to have a great research mentor, and I want students to be able to build relationships with their mentors and their leaders as well. So many connections can come from this experience, and I want students to take advantage of all the opportunities they have to grow their professional skills and grow as people, too. | I am in Relay for Life, Dance Marathon, the learning assistant program, and Alpha Chi Omega!
