mentoring_philosophy: 'My goal is to create structured opportunities for students to contribute meaningfully to research while developing transferable skills. I also aim to help students gain a better understanding of what research looks like, how it is conducted, and how new AI and computational tools can be used to study social science questions. You can expect from me: clear expectations, thoughtful feedback, openness to questions, and high professional standards. I am invested in my students’ success and work to provide practical advice, connect them to resources, and support their growth as researchers and professionals.'

overall_research_project_description: 'This project looks at how people today talk about “mothers” and “fathers” in every day language. Using new natural language processing tools that analyze large collections of text, we study the traits and expected behaviors linked to these identities. The goal is to understand cultural expectations tied to those roles. Students will gain structured experience conducting literature reviews and coding and analyzing cultural texts. They will also gain exposure to computational social science methods and identity theory. While they will not be responsible for running computational analyses, they will have the opportunity to see how these tools are applied in social science research.'
