As a mentor, I prioritize creating a supportive and adaptive environment tailored to each student’s needs, experiences, and goals. I strive to understand their strengths and challenges to maximize potential and promote meaningful growth.
I believe growth occurs most effectively in a challenging yet supportive setting. Encouraging students to explore, struggle, and learn from the process, rather than simply providing answers. This helps them develop competence, confidence, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and resilience.
Instead of giving solutions, I engage in brainstorming with students and offer guidance when needed, empowering them to find answers independently. This approach fosters both technical skills and the confidence to trust their own abilities and take initiative.
I also ensure students have access to the resources they need to thrive, whether that is tools, readings, or connections to additional learning opportunities. These resources act as catalysts for deeper exploration and help students build a toolkit of knowledge and skills for ongoing success.
Ultimately, my mentoring approach is collaborative and empowering. I aim to guide students through challenges, help them develop critical skills, and encourage ownership of their learning. By fostering self-efficacy and a love for continuous growth, I seek to prepare students not only to succeed in the present but also to confidently tackle future challenges.

overall_research_project_description: 'The GlueX experiment is an ongoing particle physics project aimed at improving our understanding of the light meson spectrum. A critical aspect of the experiment is evaluating how accurately the detectors can measure the particles produced in collisions. The goal of this project is to perform systematic studies to refine particle identification by analyzing how detector performance varies with particle momentum. This will involve examining both experimental data and simulations, plotting particle behavior, and assessing the effectiveness of selection criteria. The results are intended to be presented at the level of the GlueX collaboration.'
