Engineering, statistics, Computer science, mathematics or related/high intrested individuals
Engineering Building B, option to work remotely or in-person
Venom or FSU bus system to engineering campus
Fully Remote

Flexible schedule (Combination of business and outside of business. TBD between student and research mentor.)
The research will focus on modeling the operational flow of a general nuclear waste management through discrete event simulation, via the python package simpy. The overal project has three main simulations: the waste inspection model, the transportation model, and the waste storage model. You will create the transportation model that transports the waste to underground facilities which connects the other two models. Currently we have input data from the first process. You will work closely with the PhD student and the paper will ideally lead to a conference paper.
data management
data analysis
research writing
python coding

It is my goal as a faculty member to be a mentor to students from a variety of backgrounds and programs. I promise to provide a safe environment built on mutual respect and understanding, hold you accountable to the goals you set, and provide guidance on what research and meaningful research deliverables are. I aim to build relationships with my students that make them feel supported and valued. I expect you to do your best and communicate quickly when personal and research-related issues arise, especially when they impact your work and progress. I look forward to working with you, learning about what motivates you, and working together to achieve our goals.
