In other words, I develop tools for non-technical users to interact with a database using natural language (e.g. English). This is my second year working on the project; I started this research for my honors-in-the-major thesis. Are there any other research related activities you participate(d) in?: I am on the student editorial board of the Florida Undergraduate Research Journal, the journal of the Florida Undergraduate Research Association. Answer one of the following two questions about being a UROP Leader or your UROP background. : How do you hope to impact your students as a UROP Leader? Please answer the question you selected above in the area provided.: I hope to give my students a warm welcome to the research community at FSU and highlight how conducting research can help students discover the things they are really passionate about. Because UROP allows students to pursue any kind of research, not just limited to their major, I strive to show my students that exploring different fields of study can show them opportunities they may have previously never heard of and can help them better understand what kind of work that they enjoy. This was my experience with UROP, as I discovered that I wanted to pursue research in computer science through exposure from a mechanical engineering project, and it was a pivotal point in my college experience. I hope to share this with my students and support them as they become more confident in themselves and their skillset. Please list any other hobbies or interests you would like to share: I collect houseplants (I have 30 right now!) and love to spend time outdoors.
