Overall Research Project Description | This project, conducted in the FSU Sports Psychology Lab, will investigate the relationship between self-talk, quiet eye (a critical gaze behavior linked to performance), and personality in a dart throwing task. Participants will first complete a personality questionnaire, then perform dart throws under three different self-talk conditions while wearing eye-tracking technology. By examining how personality traits interact with self-talk and gaze control, this study aims to provide new insights into the psychological factors that influence athletic performance. Students interested in sports, psychology, or human performance research are encouraged to join. |

Mentoring Philosophy | My mentoring philosophy is founded on open communication, mutual respect, and fostering a safe and positive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and sharing their ideas. I believe in providing clear guidance and structure for tasks while also encouraging mentees to use critical thinking and problem-solving skills to promote independence. To ensure that students gain the most from their research experience, I allow them to select tasks that align with their interests and strengths. Lastly, transparency is central to my philosophy—I share my methods, approaches, and resources openly so that mentees not only succeed in their current role, but also develop the skills and confidence necessary for their academic and professional growth. |
