overall_research_project_description: 'In multi-agent systems, multiple (intelligent) agents often need to reach consensus on their decisions via local communication with their neighboring agents within their sensing radii. Naturally, the convergence rate of their decisions depends on how well-connected their communication network is. In this project, we propose to study how adding and removing an edge in the communication network, which can be either directed or undirected, will affect the convergence rate of the consensus for multi-agent systems. In particular, given a communication network, we would like to study adding (or removing) which edge will contribute the most to increasing (or decreasing, respectively) the convergence rate. We may need to adopt a reinforcement learning approach for this project.'
