Overall Research Project Description:
My research team is collaborating with autistic college students, parents, and community college faculty and staff to develop two interactive virtual toolkits. These toolkits are designed to educate instructors and counseling center staff members on best practices to support the overall wellbeing of autistic college students.

For this year, our primary focus is on finalizing the design and content of the toolkits, and conducting an 'open trial' with instructors. This means that they will have the opportunity to complete the toolkit and report on whether 1) it is realistic to use (feasibility), 2) they like it (acceptability), 3) it is easy to use (usability), and 4) it works (preliminary efficacy). We anticipate that the toolkits will increase faculty and staff autism knowledge and comfortability supporting autistic college students.

Mentoring Philosophy:
As a mentor, I create a welcoming and supportive environment where all lab members are encouraged to learn from and respect each other. During 1:1 meetings, I prioritize learning about the strengths, challenges, interests, and goals of my mentees, and provide research opportunities to build upon such strengths. Additionally, as mentees engage in various research tasks, I take intentional steps to ensure they feel comfortable reaching out for additional guidance and support.
