Overall Research Project Description:
The goals of this project are:
•	To systematically measure key physical properties (e.g., capacitance) of commercially available components suitable for low-temperature applications.
•	To identify a unit acceptable as a cryogenic temperature sensor that maintains precision and stability in the presence of magnetic fields.
•	To investigate the precision and stability of the potential temperature sensor.

Research Tasks:
The student activity will include, but not be limited to, the following steps:
•	Use CAD software to generate 3D models of the sample probes.
•	Mount probes and the samples.
•	Participate in measurements and collect experimental data, such as temperature, magnetic field, and capacitance.
•	Analyze collected data.

Skills that research assistant(s) may need::
Required:
•	Knowledge of CAD software, preferably AutoCAD Inventor.
•	Knowledge of software allowing to visualize, analyze and share experimental data, e.g., Excel, Origin, Igor (or willing to gain this knowledge).
•	Good communication and writing skills.
•	Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
•	Passion and curiosity for research and innovation.
•	Attention to detail.
Recommended:
•	Literature review skills
•	Analytical skills

Mentoring Philosophy:
I would like this UROP experience to be rewarding and impactful for both of us. I consider the following elements to be critical success factors:
1.	Knowing my mentee and understanding their academic and career aspirations would allow me to tailor and personalize my guidance, increase student motivation, and establish a connection with the research project. Assessing their strengths and weaknesses would be a solid foundation for me to prepare and provide relevant training resources and support the person more effectively. It will also help both of us to manage expectations.
2.	Preparing and sharing resources that are required for overall research skills development and the project specifically. Resources will include, but not be limited to FSU libraries, FSU workshops, online tutorials, and my curated resources that are age and developmentally appropriate.
3.	Engaging in research experiences that are active, hands-on, and diverse would contribute to developing curiosity, critical thinking, communication, collaboration, developmental growth, and exploration of various angles of research and the research project life cycle.
4.	Providing regular and constructive feedback would contribute to skill development and establishing a better rapport. These activities would allow me to provide extra resources and support as needed.
5.	Progress tracking and reflections (my prior experience using Qualtrics was effective) serve as a regular track record, accountability mechanism, and a diary.
Overall, my mentoring philosophy encompasses creating a supportive and developmentally appropriate environment that enhances and fosters lifelong learning, professionalism, self-learning, ethics, and integrity and helps the student thrive academically and professionally.

Please provide a link to your publications, a video clip, or a website for your research project (if applicable):: https://nationalmaglab.org/staff/?name=AlexeySuslov
