In addition, fossil fuels are a finite resource, and it is predicted that this source of energy will be depleted within the next fifty to one-hundred years. From this, it is becoming more pertinent that we look towards alternative sources of energy. There are many avenues for addressing this issue such as solar, bio, and wind energy, however, the goal of this research is towards improvements to fuel cell technology. Fuel cells are electrochemical devices that directly convert chemical energy into electrical energy. There are many types of fuel cells, but the main types that are of current interest are proton-exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) and anionic -exchange membrane fuel cells (AEMFCs).
