What is your current research focus? My current research focuses on understanding how behavioral, psychological, and biological factors across a lifespan influence cognitive health and risk for neurocognitive disorders like Alzheimer’s disease. I am especially interested in how early-life experiences and modifiable risk factors contribute to long-term brain health and how research can help determine interventions that improve outcomes.
Are there any other research related activities you participate(d) in? I worked in a lab studying how brief mind-body interventions can reduce pain and anxiety in orthopedic clinic patients. In this role, I assisted with patient recruitment, survey administration, EEG setup, and data collection. I also developed and presented a research poster based on this project at the UROP Symposium.
Answer one of the following two questions about being a UROP Leader or your UROP background. How do you hope to impact your students as a UROP Leader?
Please answer the question you selected above in the area provided. As a UROP Leader, I hope to create a supportive and approachable environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and engaging with research. When I first started UROP, I found that having guidance and being able to ask questions made a big difference in my confidence, so I want to provide that same support to my students. I also hope to help them understand what research looks like in real settings and encourage them to explore opportunities that align with their interests. Overall, I want students to feel more confident in their abilities and excited about getting involved in research.
Please list any other hobbies or interests you would like to share In my free time, I enjoy working out and staying active, especially at the gym. I am also involved in the FSU Medical Response Unit, where I serve as Director of Standards and Compliance, and I enjoy spending time with friends. I try to maintain a good balance between academics, research, and my personal interests.
