This research project aims to document and analyze the historical and contemporary contributions of Hispanic/Latino students, faculty, staff, and administrators to Florida State University (FSU). The goal is to create a comprehensive and inclusive record that recognizes the cultural, academic, and institutional impacts of Hispanic/Latino individuals and communities on campus life and the university’s development. The study will include archival research, interviews, data analysis, and qualitative storytelling to ensure that these contributions are preserved and celebrated.
Identify and analyze archival materials such as university publications, departmental histories, and student organization records.

Conduct interviews with current and former Hispanic/Latino students, faculty, and staff.

Transcribe and code interviews for qualitative themes.

Assist in data analysis and synthesis of findings.

Support the creation of a public-facing report or digital exhibit summarizing the research findings.

My mentoring philosophy is grounded in mutual respect, open communication, and collaborative learning. I aim to meet students where they are by identifying their strengths and supporting their goals—academic, personal, and professional. I encourage students to take ownership of their work while providing consistent support and constructive feedback. Mistakes are embraced as learning opportunities, and inquiry is central to our work. I believe in cultivating a safe, inclusive environment where diverse perspectives are valued and student voices are central to the research process. I’m committed to helping students grow in confidence, develop critical thinking skills, and engage meaningfully in scholarly work that connects with their identities and communities.
