    My main goal as a mentor is to help you succeed, both on this project and in your future goals. My approach is deeply shaped by my own experience as an undergraduate researcher. During my own undergraduate studies, I participated in a research opportunity program, so I remember how exciting and challenging it can be to join a team for the first time.     I know that the best experiences start with understanding what you want to achieve. We will begin by discussing your interests and goals, whether you are exploring a career in research, preparing for graduate school, or simply want to learn new skills.     Adolescence is a critical period for developing a strong sense of self. In our multicultural society, understanding the role of ethnic-racial identity in this process is essential for promoting positive youth development and well-being. However, there is still much to learn about how this journey unfolds and what factors help adolescents to flourish.

    This project aims to fill this gap. Our study examines the different ways adolescents form their identities and investigates the impact of their identity on key outcomes like psychosocial well-being, behavioral health, and academic success. The goal is to better understand the processes so that we can best support positive development among diverse youth.

    As a research assistant working with Dr. Luo and her research team, you will be at the forefront of this important work. You will join a supportive team and gain a comprehensive understanding of the research process from the ground up. In this role, you will:
    1. Explore the connections between identity, culture, and adolescent well-being.
    2. Learn the fundamentals of ethical research, from participant recruitment to data collection.
