Flexible schedule (Combination of business and outside of business. TBD between student and research mentor.)
After spending a year writing the libretto and score for my first opera, On the Ethics of Broadway, I am seeking funding for a full, student-run stage production of the work. Before that happens, it is necessary to record certain scenes for character development and advertisement to potential partners in the project. We will be recording with school equipment on campus, making edits to recordings on LogicPro, and then uploading those recordings to a user friendly website.
The research assistant tasks include operating recording equipment, making small edits to recordings, and formatting an online platform so that it is as user friendly as possible.
Required: knowledge/experience using recording equipment, knowledge or familiarity with LogicPro, seeking degree in a music related area. Recommended: interest in opera, opera development, commercial networking, and continued interest in the project beyond this stage.
I see mentoring as an opportunity to learn together. I’m not here with all the answers, but my role as a guiding partner with experience in recording, composition, and opera, I offer guidance as to what makes the recording and rehearsing process run smoothly and effectively. I value curiosity over perfection, as faults are places to grow. Through questions, conversation, and shared exploration, I aim to make mentorship both fun and deeply teachable.
