Title of the Project Tribological Studies of Hydrogen Resistant Materials
Project Keywords Materials, Friction and Wear, Hydrogen power
Are you currently looking for research assistants? Yes
Number of Research Assistants Needed 1
Relevant Research Assistant Major(s) Open to all STEM major
Project Location: 2003 Levy Ave, Tallahassee, FL 32310
If the project location is off campus, does the research assistant(s) need to provide their own transportation? Yes
Please select the choice that most accurately describes your expectations for the research assistant(s): In-person

Overall Research Project Description The transition to clean energy systems increasingly relies on hydrogen as a fuel and energy carrier. However, many engineering materials face challenges when exposed to hydrogen-rich environments, including embrittlement, accelerated wear, and reduced service lifetimes. To address these issues, this project focuses on studying the tribological properties (friction, wear, and lubrication) of hydrogen-resistant materials.
Research Tasks Preparing material samples for testing.
Operating a tribometer to conduct controlled wear and friction experiments.
Collecting and analyzing data to identify trends in material behavior.
Reviewing scientific literature on hydrogen effects in materials.
Contributing to group discussions and lab meetings
Skills that research assistant(s) may need: MATLAB (recommended)
Solidworks (recommended)
Mentoring Philosophy I identify with a classic mentorship philosophy. Mutual respect and Love of Science are the foundation. If there's anything you need help with just ask. I will help by teaching or we can figure it out together if I am unfamiliar.
