| What is your current research focus? | Currently, I am studying the effect of exercise on sleep quality in post-menopausal, pre-diabetic women. Menopause is a large and usually difficult transition in women's lives that is normally accompanied by many negative symptoms. One of the most commonly reported symptoms of menopause is sleep disturbances. Therefore, this study aims to determine if exercise can be used as a non-pharmacological treatment for sleep disturbances in post-menopausal women. To do this, the women in our study were split into either resistance or endurance training, and they wore an Oura ring throughout the study to monitor their objective sleep quality. They also completed the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) to measure their subjective sleep quality. Our study is still ongoing, but we have seen a trend towards increased subjective sleep quality in these women after their 6-week exercise program. |

| Answer one of the following two questions about being a UROP Leader or your UROP background. | How has UROP impacted your time at FSU? |
| Please answer the question you selected above in the area provided. | UROP has been one of my favorite experiences during my time at FSU. In my lab, I have met so many undergraduate and PhD students who have had a profound impact on my life and my love of research. I have grown so much as a person because of my mentor's guidance and have gained many valuable research and life skills. I have been presented with so many wonderful experiences and opportunities through the members of my lab. I love the students and faculty I work with and the research we do in my lab, and I hope to remain a part of this lab until I graduate. I am grateful to UROP for introducing me to my lab and rekindling my love of research. |
