Project Description
We are studying the processes involved as people exchange turns in conversation. Some of the questions we are currently exploring are:-- When your partner is talking, at what point do you start planning your own response? What is planned at this point?
-- When it is our turn to speak, we have many options for what to say. How do we decide which option to take?
-- There is often a small silence between the end of one speaker's turn and the beginning of the next speaker's turn. How do we recognize and interpret the length of these silences?
Research Tasks: Literature reviews, data collection, data analysis, attend lab meetings (if possible).
Skills that research assistant(s) may need: No specific skills required. We will teach you what you need to know.
