I study how strengthening breathing muscles can improve breathing efficiency in adults with obesity. My research looks at whether a simple training method can make breathing require less energy and feel easier. The goal is to better understand ways to reduce breathlessness and improve overall respiratory function.

How do you hope to impact your students as a UROP Leader?
I hope to impact my UROP students by helping them overcome the intimidation that often comes with starting research. I want to create an environment where they feel capable, supported, and confident in their ability to contribute. Research can seem overwhelming at first, but I aim to show that it’s a skill that can be learned step by step. By encouraging curiosity and growth, I want students to see research as something achievable and leave feeling prepared and confident in their abilities.
I enjoy going to the gym and spending time at the pool, as it helps me stay active while also having fun. I also like playing video games in my free time to unwind and take a break. Overall, I appreciate a balance between physical activity and more relaxed hobbies depending on the day.
