My current research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of HIV-1 infection in lymphocytes. Specifically, I am working on a project to detect the amino acid sequences associated with Cyclophilin A binding HIV-1 capsid protein to develop our understanding of viral hijacking of cellular machinery.

How do you hope to impact your students as a UROP Leader?
I want my students to feel confident in their ability to be more independent researchers. As an undergraduate, it can be very intimidating to enter research environments with educated experts, especially in a field they are not familiar with. I hope that through our UROP colloqium, we can encourage students to embrace the uncertainty and feel comfortable in a lab community while giving them the resources to do so.
Outside of research, I work as a math tutor for FSU, serve on the executive board of FSU Generation Action, and am a member of the math fraternity, Pi Mu Epsilon.
