As an undergraduate, it can be very intimidating to enter research environments with educated experts, especially in a field they are not familiar with. I hope that through our UROP colloqium, we can encourage students to embrace the uncertainty and feel comfortable in a lab community while giving them the resources to do so.'

  what_is_your_current_research_focus_: 'My current research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of HIV-1 infection in lymphocytes. Specifically, I am working on a project to detect the amino acid sequences associated with Cyclophilin A binding HIV-1 capsid protein to develop our understanding of viral hijacking of cellular machinery.'
