What is your current research focus? Currently, I work in Dr. Andrea Meltzer’s Attraction and Close Relationships (ACR) lab as a DIS student where I am studying romantic relationships from social, evolutionary, and clinical psychological perspectives. In addition, I volunteer part-time for Dr. Heath Maranges’s “Character Project”—a social/personality psychology study focusing on morality. During the summers, I continue my research in St. Louis, assisting in Dr. Joshua Jackson’s Personality Measurement and Development Lab (PMaD) lab at Washington University.
Are there any other research related activities you participate(d) in? As a freshman, I worked in Dr. Evan Lloyd’s lab, studying the chemosensory evolution of Mexican cavefish through the UROP program. Additionally, I have performed an individually led study “The Use of Ashwagandha as Treatment for Inflammatory Bowel Disease in Zebrafish Embryo Models”. With this project, I have competed and placed in several fairs including ISEF and the Academy of Science.
Answer one of the following two questions about being a UROP Leader or your UROP background. How do you hope to impact your students as a UROP Leader?
Please answer the question you selected above in the area provided. I am thrilled to be a UROP leader so that I can be an extra support system for my students. Research is intimidating as an undergraduate, and can come with lots of unanswered questions. As a leader, I hope to give the advice to my students that I wish I had when first beginning research and starting my career. I want my students to feel as though they can ask me for help with anything!
Please list any other hobbies or interests you would like to share I am a member of RENEW (Realizing Everyone’s Need for Emotional Wellness), GLASS (Greek Life Advocating for Sexual Safety), and am heavily involved in Alpha Delta Pi. When I am not on campus, I am probably hiking, listening to music, traveling, or doing yoga!
