are_there_any_other_research_oriented_clubs_you_participate_in_: 'During my time in UROP, I curated an exhibit within the FSU Postcard Archive, titled "Lesbian Relationships on Postcards." This project examined how early twentieth-century postcards employed various visual strategies to either encode or create plausible deniability of lesbian relationships. My IDEA Grant project is a continuation of my UROP project, as I will be continuing my work with my research mentor, Dr. Neal, to curate another exhibit.'

I am an avid reader and video gamer. My favorite authors are Toni Morrison, Virginia Woolf, V.E. Schwab, and Brandon Sanderson. When I am not reading, you can find me playing video games alone or with my friends. My favorite games are Animal Crossing, Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, games in the Persona series, and anything I play with my friends.

selected_response: 'UROP has been a critical turning point in my career at FSU. The experiences and opportunities the program has provided have helped me build a foundation for developing crucial skills for continuing as a researcher. First, UROP introduced me to the Honors in the Major program. Second, it also introduced me to the IDEA Grant program, where I will be working with my research mentor from my UROP project. Third, I will now be serving as a peer instructor for future UROP students. These opportunities would not be possible without UROP, and I feel more prepared than ever to continue in my academic and professional careers. '

what_is_your_current_research_focus_: 'Currently, I am involved with two different research projects at FSU. First, I am in the midst of working on my Honors in the Major thesis, “Haunting (Post)-Slavery Stories: Ryan Coogler’s Sinners and Toni Morrison’s Beloved.” In this project, I am exploring Ryan Coogler’s film, Sinners, and Toni Morrison’s novel, Beloved, to analyze how they portray the haunting effects of slavery on African American men and women in the United States. Second, I am working on my IDEA Grant project, “Sappho in Translation: Literature and Artistic Representations.” In this project, I will be continuing my work in the FSU Postcard Archive and exploring the relationships between literary and visual representations of Sappho, the poet.
