First Name: Morgan Last Name: Brown Full name as you would like it to appear on the website: Morgan Brown Preferred Pronouns: She/her/hers Hometown, State, and Country (ex: Tallahassee, FL, USA): Boca Raton, FL, USA FSU email : mab23e@fsu.edu Please check this box if you are willing to be contacted by students interested in UROP: Yes LinkedIn URL (optional): https://morganabrown.com/ Major(s): Psychology Minor(s): Computer Science Graduation Semester and Year (ex: Fall, 2022): Spring 2026 What is your current research focus?: My current research investigates the neural mechanisms underlying cognitive control and examines how non-invasive brain stimulation, particularly Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), modulates these processes. We aim to understand how targeted neural modulation can influence cognitive performance which can aid in the treatment of internalizing disorders such as depression and trauma-related conditions. Additionally, I am interested in the application of theoretical models of suicide, with a particular focus on how constructs like negative urgency contribute to elevated suicide risk. Currently, I am completing an honors thesis that investigates the role of negative urgency within high-risk populations. Are there any other research related activities you participate(d) in?: I’ve presented at various research conferences sharing my findings and collaborating with like minded individuals. I am also completing an Honors In The Major project. Answer one of the following two questions about being a UROP Leader or your UROP background. : How has UROP impacted your time at FSU? Please answer the question you selected above in the area provided.: Coming into my undergraduate career, I knew I enjoyed research, but I was quite determined to pursue a career in medicine. The transition from high school research to collegiate research was surprisingly smooth, and I was fortunate enough to be paired with one of the most exceptional mentors possible. Through his guidance and the time he dedicated to teaching me as much as he could about his field, I gradually realized that this was where I truly belonged. With the support of UROP, I secured a position in one of my labs and worked my way up to research supervisor. I then joined another lab to further explore my interests and expand my knowledge, and I am currently completing an honors thesis. In conclusion, without UROP, my transition to research would not have been as seamless or fulfilling. Please list any other hobbies or interests you would like to share: I love sitting in the sun especially by the beach or pool and playing with my kittens!
