Latika Young

Latika Young is the Director of Florida State University's Center for Undergraduate Research and Academic Engagement. She received a BA in Dance and Environmental Studies from Swarthmore College, an MA in American Dance Studies from FSU, and an EdM in International Educational Development from Columbia University’s Teachers College. After completing a Fulbright in Bosnia and Herzegovina from 2008-2009, she received a Foreign Language Acquisition Scholarship to study Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian at Columbia University and a Critical Language Scholarship to study Turkish in Bursa, Turkey in 2011. Her research is primarily focused on Southeast Europe and Turkey, peace/post-conflict education, and artistic practices for social change, and her master’s thesis examined how museums function in the reconciliation process within Bosnia and Herzegovina

Alicia Batailles

Alicia Batailles is an Associate Director of Florida State University’s Center for Undergraduate Research and Academic Engagement. She earned a BS in Biological Science from Florida State University and an MS in Marine and Atmospheric Sciences from Stony Brook University. Her research has taken her around the country investigating marine disease in Apalachicola Bay and the Atlantic Ocean as well as Reef Fish Ecology off the coast of Florida. Alicia is passionate about helping other students experience the excitement of participating in undergraduate research.

DAVID MONTEZ

David Montez is an Associate Director of Florida State University’s Center for Undergraduate Research and Academic Engagement. He oversees the CRE's Tech Fellowship program and works to advocate on behalf of student entrepreneurs. David earned a BA in International Affairs from Florida State University and an MA in International Affairs from American University Washington, D.C. Prior to joining the CRE David was a project manager overseeing the development of social-emotional learning products for the Lastinger Center for Learning at the University of Florida. He is passionate about connecting students with the information and resources needed to fulfill their potential at FSU and beyond.

Alicia Batailles

Warren Oliver

Warren Oliver is the newest Associate Director here at the CRE. He will oversee the global programs such as FSU Gap Year Fellows and Global Scholars. Warren graduated with a BA in Political Science from Loyola University of New Orleans and an MA in English Language Education from Bahcesehir University in Istanbul, Turkey. Currently, Warren is in the process of completing a PhD in International and Multicultural Education from Florida State University. Before joining the CRE, Warren worked as the Program Coordinator for the ELC for Kids Program at Koc University in Istanbul. He is passionate about understanding how education shapes student perception of the world and helping students become responsible global citizens.

Morgan Hamilton

Morgan Hamilton

Morgan Hamilton is the Assistant Director of Florida State University's Center for Undergraduate Research and Academic Engagement. He earned his BFA in Studio Art from Florida State University and his MFA in video, performance, and installation at the University of Delaware. His research focuses on world-building in transmedia storytelling and performs with a range of characters for exhibitions and special events. His interests range from science fiction, quantum relativity, and black holes to poetry, neoclassical music, and painting.

amy haggard

Amy Haggard is the Assistant Director of Alumni and Student Engagement for Honors, Scholars, and Fellows. She received a BS in Recreation and Sport Management from Coastal Carolina University, and an MS in Student Affairs in Higher Education from Colorado State University. She spent six years at Coastal Carolina University as an LGBTQ+ ally network training facilitator and has an ongoing passion for inclusivity. Amy’s background in collegiate athletics, student affairs, and alumni relations assist with her dedication to boosting alumni engagement and affinity.

David Advent

David Advent is a recent graduate of FSU, where he majored in English Literature and International Affairs. During his time at FSU, David participated in the UROP Programs, both as a student and as a co-instructor, taught the incoming classes of UROP Leaders as UROP Leader Mentor, carried out his Honors Thesis through funding from the IDEA Grant, and worked at the Claude Pepper Center as a Political Papers Archivist. This summer, David will be working with the CRE as a Graduate Assistant, helping develop and refine the UROP curriculum.

Alex Oldham

Alex Oldham

Alex Oldham is the Graduate Assistant for Florida State University’s Center for Undergraduate Research and Academic Engagement. She earned her BA in Psychology from Western Kentucky University and is pursuing her MS in Sport Psychology at Florida State University. Her research involvement as an undergraduate was through the Motivation Lab in the Psychology department, and her project was awarded an undergraduate research grant that allowed her to travel to and present at the American Psychological Association’s and the Association for Applied Sport Psychology’s National Conferences. She is passionate about helping students engage in undergraduate research and find success beyond their time as an undergrad here at FSU.
