Project Description
This project is a scoping review examining how severity is measured for children with speech sound disorders in primary research studies. The project will systematically identify how researchers measure severity across research articles in the existing literature.Research Tasks: As a UROP student, you will gain hands-on experience with the scoping review process, including literature searching, screening, and synthesis. You will complete training on research ethics through CITI Program and article screening using Covidence. You will then participate in abstract and full-text screening of potentially eligible articles using predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria and attend regular meetings to discuss questions, procedures, and discrepancies.
Skills that research assistant(s) may need: Required:
-Willingness to complete CITI and Covidence training before beginning research activities
-Strong attention to detail when reading
-Ability to carefully follow procedures
-Confidence to ask questions when clarification is needed
Recommended:
-Interest in communication science and disorders, speech-language pathology, education, psychology, or a related field
-Previous experience reading research articles or scientific literature
-Familiarity with Microsoft suite
