Undergraduate Law Review at FSU

Founded in 1996 and re-established in 2020, the Undergraduate Law Review at Florida State University strives to foster academic collaboration across campus and delve deep into current legal events. Our organization is entirely student-run, edited, and published. The main purpose of the Undergraduate Law Review at FSU is to provide students with a chance to refine their legal research, writing, and editing skills. Our organization’s mission is to foster a spirit of community amongst like-minded students at Florida State and provide an outlet for those interested in legal research.

We digitally publish a volume of articles in our print journal once per semester, and we routinely publish blog articles during the fall and spring semesters. We accept new writers and editors at the beginning of every fall and spring. The ULR at FSU is a great way for interested students to become a published writer at the undergraduate level and gain tangible skills for law school and their future legal careers. Our staff consists of the Executive Board, Associate Editors, Article Editors, and both Long- and Short-Form Writers. Through involvement with our organization, members learn how to successfully craft arguments, peer-review other papers, and cite sources according to the Bluebook citation style. Our social events and general body meetings also provide an opportunity for our staff to get to know one another and network with other pre-law students here at Florida State.

We publish legal articles that discuss everything from Florida law to international law and beyond—previously published topics include an examination of Florida’s Direct File Policy, an argument for United Nations Security Council reform, an evaluation of the Outer Space Treaty, and many more articles that discuss novel and timely legal matters. In addition, we welcome external submissions from non-FSU students around the world, and we frequently publish articles written by guest authors from other universities. You can visit our external submissions page to learn more about writing for the Undergraduate Law Review as a non-FSU student, and you can read all our past print publications under our volumes page. You can read our new blog publication by clicking on our blog posts page.

The application window to join our Fall 2025 staff will open on August 1st. Until then, you can follow us on Instagram to stay up-to-date on applications, publication dates, and more! You can also connect with us on LinkedIn.
