FSU iGEM

Florida State University's International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM at FSU) program provides students from all majors an undergraduate research experience focused on innovation and team-based science and engineering.

Recruitment for the 2026 FSU iGEM team has closed. However, we have an open door policy year-around. Feel free to visit one of our weekly meetings in the Pitch Room of the Innovation Hub at 2:00PM on Fridays.

The International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) Competition is the premiere student competition in synthetic biology. Since 2004, participants of the competition have experienced education, teamwork, sharing, and more in a unique competition setting. iGEM has a long history of involving students and the public in the development of the field of synthetic biology.

The mission of FSU iGEM is to provide students a world-class experience focused on:

• Excellence in empathy, curiosity, and ingenuity
• Science, Technology, Engineering, Art/Design, Mathematics (STEAM) education
• Project-based exposure to biological science and engineering
• Developing and maintaining excellent multidisciplinary teams
• Leading the conversation on the opportunities and impact of synthetic biology at FSU and beyond
• Having fun!
