THE WHAT: Join us for a panel discussion about what it means to start a business here at FSU and in the City of Tallahassee. The panel of local thought leaders and young entrepreneurs will discuss what has been done to build a stronger entrepreneurial ecosystem in Tallahassee/FSU and what still needs to be done. This event is open to the public. Light refreshments will be provided. We ask that you RSVP here.

Alissa McShane, Chief of Staff at Ruvos (formerly Uber Operations)
Alissa is a Florida State University alumni working in Operations & Business Development at Ruvos in Tallahassee, FL. A spirited young professional and natural-born leader, she is passionate about women feeling empowered to work in any field or profession they choose.


Dustin Daniels, Chief of Staff to the Office of the Mayor and Director of Intergovernmental Affairs
Dustin also serves locally on the Board of Governors of the Leon County Research and Development Authority, the Board of Directors for the Tallahassee-Leon Federal Credit Union, and on the Board of Directors for the Challenger Learning Center of Tallahassee. He is an alumnus of Florida State University, where he served as Student Body President and University Trustee, and completed his Graduate work with Distinction at the London School of Economics.

Lucas Lindsey, Executive Director of Domi Station
Tallahassee has had no bigger advocate for entrepreneurs than Lucas. Though he has recently stepped down from his ED position at Domi Station for the opportunities of Arizona, he continues to have an impact on the Tallahassee community with his involvement with Foremost and their investment in Happy Motoring. The Happy Motoring project strives to not only provide hospitality services but to be a strong community presence that includes health and nutrition classes, free yoga Saturdays and community block parties. 

Val Rodriguez, FSU Alumni, Driftour

Hannah King, Woven Futures (Current Student)
Hannah is a current third year student at FSU, majoring in international affairs with minors in social entrepreneurship and Portuguese. As a social entrepreneur, Hannah works with her company Woven Futures, an ethical fashion brand that collaborates with indigenous weavers to preserve local cultures, design meaningful products, and revitalize the ethics of the fashion industry. Woven Futures began in April of 2017 and has since won 1st Place Social Enterprise at the FSU InNolevation Challenge and has grown to over 40 artisan partners throughout Guatemala.  

Courtney Simoncelli, SmartSnax (Current Student)
SmartSnax is a healthy snack box subscription service filled with a variety yummy snacks every month free from gluten, soy, dairy, and GMOs! The services delivers monthly packages of healthy snacks right to customers' doors anywhere near the FSU campus and also ship to anywhere in the U.S.
