Read about the 2022 Undergraduate Research Symposium (4/8/2022)--

"From understanding the health effects of spaceflight to examining employee reactions to performance reviews, Florida State University students showcased a wide range of research endeavors at the 2022 Undergraduate Research Symposium.

The symposium provides an opportunity for student researchers from any major or discipline to display their work to the public. Nearly 500 students participated in the event Thursday, April 7, at the Honors, Scholars and Fellows House, with every FSU college represented.

“Research happens in every discipline, and when students realize that, they realize there is a place for them within the research ecosystem, which is really exciting,” said Latika Young, director of the Center for Undergraduate Research and Academic Engagement."

Dr. Michael Franklin Receives Faculty Undergraduate Research Mentor Award (4/13/2022)--

Honors in the Major faculty member, Dr. Michael D. Franklin, was chosen as the winner of the Florida State University 2022 Faculty Undergraduate Research Mentor Award. The Center for Undergraduate Research & Academic Engagement (CRE) gives out this annual university award to a faculty member who demonstrates excellence in mentoring undergraduate students via the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP). Dr. Franklin's student collaborator, honors student and Presidential Scholar, Nadia Rassech, nominated him based on her experience working together with Dr. Franklin on research this past academic year for an oral history project about Naiad Press, a lesbian publishing company that operated in Tallahassee from 1980 to 2003 and that was the largest of its kind in the world. 

FSU celebrates President’s Showcase of Undergraduate Research Excellence (09/27/2022)--

"About 30 Florida State University students presented research to more than 700 people last week at the 2022 President’s Showcase of Undergraduate Research Excellence.

The event included the presentation of research in person for the first time in three years.

The annual event highlights research from recipients of Tyler Center for Global Studies awards and other prestigious academic programs. The showcase offers students the opportunity to network with professionals and practice their presentation skills as they showcase the research they completed under the mentorship of FSU faculty."
