About Global Scholars:
The FSU Global Scholars program helps students secure summer internships at nonprofit organizations in developing countries around the world. Developed by the Center for Undergraduate Research and Academic Engagement and currently in its third year, Global Scholars' placements are low-cost and high-impact, providing a challenging academic and personal student development experience. FSU students in the program receive training before departure and must complete a capstone research project on an issue facing the overseas community after completing their internship. In the end, the Global Scholars program hopes to cultivate active citizens of the world who can utilize research and critical thinking skills to engage with different cultural perspectives and make a positive impact in the global community.
Please watch this video for an introduction into the Global Scholars world.
Partnership with Omprakash EdGE:
FSU Global Scholars partners with the non-profit organization Omprakash, which helps facilitate the internship connection process and also provides valuable mentorship, training, and networking support. Students are encouraged to arrange their internships for the summer semester (for a minimum of two months), but there is a possibility to arrange internships for spring and fall semesters instead.
For summer 2014, students may choose from 100+ internship placements at a wide range of community organizations located in Central/South America, Africa and Asia.
For a small glimpse at possible internship sites, please view the Global Scholars/Omprakash EdGE Info Packet: EdGE Intro Packet
